A pedestrian area that makes it easy to enjoy the restaurants, coffee bars and lively tapas bars that populate this lovely Spanish fishing town. A traditional market in the centre of Ayamonte provides all your freshly caught fish, meat and vegetables. There is a daily ferry service to Portugal across the Guadiana River (the second largest river in Europe).
Magnificent palm tree lined squares, whitewashed houses, baroque churches and beautiful displays of flowers are in abundance. Lovely statues, a park, a small zoo and a marina provide an appropriate ambience for this wonderful cultural Spanish town. The church of Nuestra Senora de las Angustias dates form the 15 th century.
